About

In 2007, thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, The Rhode Island Historical Society (RIHS) embarked on an unprecedented project to survey and create catalog records of the entire Graphics Collection held by the Society. In addition, collections are being re-housed using archival enclosures and boxes, disaster recovery priorities are set and preservation supply types and quantities are calculated. Armed with all of this data, funding can be sought for specific re-housing and cataloging projects.

To continue the project, the Society was awarded a 3-year Museums for America grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). Karen Eberhart, Special Collections Curator, reported on this award in a September 14, 2009 blog post.
